Assess analytical skills, customer understanding, and ability to translate data into actionable strategies. Look for proficiency with analytics tools and customer segmentation.
4. Can you walk me through how you would optimise our conversion funnel from first visit to purchase, considering both technical and customer experience factors?
Evaluate understanding of e-commerce fundamentals, UX principles, and conversion rate optimisation. Strong candidates will mention A/B testing, personalisation, and mobile optimisation.
5. Tell me about a time when you recognised that your skills weren't the strongest fit for a particular challenge, and how you leveraged others' strengths to achieve the outcome.
This targets Behaviour 4 (self-aware and play to each other's strengths). Look for genuine self-awareness, collaborative approach, and ability to build on team members' expertise.
6. How would you manage and coordinate marketing campaigns across multiple digital channels whilst ensuring consistent brand messaging and optimal budget allocation?
Assess project management skills, understanding of integrated marketing, and budget management capabilities. Look for experience with campaign attribution and cross-channel analytics.
7. Describe your experience with international market considerations for DTC - how do you account for different consumer behaviours, payment preferences, and local regulations?
Evaluate global commerce expertise, cultural sensitivity, and operational awareness. Good answers will cover localisation, compliance, logistics, and market research.
8. Can you give me an example of when you had to pivot a DTC strategy quickly due to changing market conditions? How did you communicate this to stakeholders?
Look for adaptability, crisis management, and communication skills. Strong responses will show data-driven decision making and clear stakeholder management during uncertainty.
9. How do you stay current with emerging DTC technologies and trends, and how do you evaluate which ones are worth investing in for the business?
Assess continuous learning mindset, strategic thinking about technology adoption, and ability to separate hype from genuine business value.
10. Tell me about a time when you had to build strong working relationships with teams outside of marketing - such as IT, operations, or customer service - to deliver a DTC initiative.

Listen for thoughtful, well-researched questions that demonstrate genuine interest in the role and company. Strong candidates will ask about team dynamics, growth opportunities, or specific business challenges.
