1. Tell me about a time when you had to deliver a particularly challenging project or piece of work under tight deadlines. How did you manage your approach and what was the outcome?
Listen for evidence of performance-driven mindset, ability to work at pace, and how they balanced demanding standards with maintaining quality. Look for specific examples of problem-solving under pressure.
2. Describe a situation where you had to give constructive feedback to a colleague or team member whose performance wasn't meeting expectations. How did you handle it?
Assess their ability to be demanding yet friendly and kind. Look for examples showing they can address performance issues whilst maintaining positive relationships and supporting others' development.
3. Can you walk me through a time when you recognised that your skills weren't the best fit for a particular task or project? How did you handle this situation?
Evaluate self-awareness and ability to play to strengths. Look for evidence of honest self-assessment, seeking help from others, or finding alternative approaches that leveraged team strengths.
4. Tell me about a project where you had to collaborate closely with colleagues who had very different working styles or expertise to your own. How did you make it work?
Look for evidence of recognising others' strengths, adapting communication styles, and finding ways to complement different approaches. Shows team-working and leveraging diverse capabilities.
5. Describe a time when you had to explain a complex technical concept or process to someone without a technical background. How did you ensure they understood?
Assess ability to communicate clearly and simply, avoiding jargon. Look for evidence of checking understanding and tailoring explanations to the audience's level.
6. Can you give me an example of when you identified a process or system that could be improved? What steps did you take and what was the result?
Evaluate problem-solving skills, initiative, and ability to implement improvements. Look for evidence of analytical thinking and measuring outcomes.
7. Tell me about a time when you made a mistake or something didn't go according to plan. How did you handle it and what did you learn?
Assess accountability, learning mindset, and resilience. Look for evidence of taking ownership, communicating transparently, and implementing lessons learned.
8. Describe a situation where you had to juggle multiple priorities or competing demands. How did you decide what to focus on first?
Evaluate time management, prioritisation skills, and decision-making under pressure. Look for evidence of clear thinking and systematic approaches to workload management.
9. Can you give me an example of when you went above and beyond what was expected in your role to help achieve a goal or support a colleague?
Look for evidence of team-first mentality, willingness to help others, and commitment to collective success rather than individual recognition.
10. Tell me about a time when you had to work with incomplete information or unclear requirements. How did you proceed?
Assess ability to work with ambiguity, ask clarifying questions, and make reasonable assumptions. Look for evidence of proactive communication and risk management.
11. Describe a situation where you had to adapt quickly to a significant change in direction or priorities. How did you manage this transition?
Evaluate flexibility, resilience, and change management skills. Look for evidence of maintaining performance standards whilst adapting to new circumstances.
12. What questions do you have about the role, the team, or Boden?
Listen for thoughtful, well-researched questions that demonstrate genuine interest in the role and company. Quality questions show preparation and engagement.
